Felted Slippers with Joelle McCarthy (Fri all day)
In this class, we will make a pair of felt slippers from start to finish. The slippers are wet felted using a resist. Using merino wool, we shape the slippers using a resist, shrink them down to size, and do a final shaping on a shoe last. We discuss finishing techniques for you to do at home after the slippers dry.
The class is 6 hours long and includes supplies to make one pair of slippers.
Level: Although this is an advanced technique, anyone from beginner to expert can successfully make slippers. It is a great introduction to 3-D felting techniques
Ages: 16+
Materials Fee: $100 material fee includes: shoe lasts (please email me the size you want at corncreekfiber@gmail.com), 4 ounces merino wool, add in decorations, and a tool kit with a bin to hold the wet supplies, a spray bottle, bubble wrap, latex for soles, and an application brush.
Options: none
Please Bring: A towel and an apron. We will be wet for a few hours, so bring gloves if you would like. You may also bring liquid soap, if you are sensitive to Dawn dish soap.

This Class will be held in Building 1 (Classroom Building)
In Classroom Area: 1
Date/Time: Fri April 26 - 9am - noon AND 2pm - 5pm (6 hour class)
Please arrive at Class Check-In (at the entrance to the Class Building) at least 10 minutes early to receive your Nametag and find your class area.

Instructor Bio
Joelle and her husband own the Bowdust Alpaca Ranch in Monroe, Utah. They both enjoy weaving, spinning, and just being with the peaceful animals. Joelle has been felting for 15 years and enjoys teaching others at festivals and workshops out of her studio.

Please note: after March 31, 2024, we will refund 50% of the class fee, and after April 15, 2024, refunds are no longer available.
