Introducing the folks who bring you the Fair
Jill Tew
Jill has been a fiber enthusiast since she first learned how to needlepoint from her mother at the age of five. Since then, she is never without what her family calls “a crafty project”. Her husband got her into a spinning class on a dare 13 years ago and now it’s her favorite thing to do no matter where she is. She also enjoys knitting, crocheting, weaving and many other fiber arts.
Carolyn Chen
Carolyn has a mind for numbers, an eye for color and keeps her hands busy with all kinds of fiber arts. A type A organizer, she teaches locally and is active in many local guilds. Her specialties are sewing, knitting, and crocheting, with spinning running a distant fourth.
Julie Davies
2 beautiful women my Mother & Grandmother made sure I learned to crochet & do embroidery work at a very early age. I was given a knitting machine for Christmas at the age of 6. Shortly after that my Dad made me a little loom. At the age of 14 I went with my mother to the craft house on 33rd & that’s where I saw spinning wheels. I told my mother I wanted to learn to spin & weave. It wasn’t until 13 years ago I took a spinning class. And now I’m looking forward to raising my own sheep!
Rebecca Thomas-Maurer
Rebecca got started knitting about 13 years ago as a way to keep her out of trouble. The experiment failed miserably as she got into all kinds of trouble with knitting, spinning, weaving, stitching and general yarn hoarding. She can be found in the wild carrying yarn of some kind, working at a local yarn store, or teaching classes in knitting and weaving to unsuspecting prey.
Nyssa Farnsworth
Although Nyssa has only been spinning for a couple years, she has always had a fascination with making things. Her mom finally taught her to crochet as a teen, and later she became intrigued about the wool process. She says her love for animals is also a big part of her enthusiasm for the fiber arts. Her and hubby Kevin both enjoy a variety of crafts, and share their home with a multitude of critters.
Jodie McDougall
Jodie is a glass artist specializing in making heirloom quality buttons utilizing an ancient technique called murrine, or millefiori. She travels the country selling at markets and fiber festivals. She also has a side business making felted hats. Her love of fiber started many years ago with a passion for felt, it has grown into a hobby with spinning, dyeing, and dabbling in weaving.
Kathleen Fisher
Kathleen has been crafting since she was a little girl and spinning since she fell in love with a Majacraft wheel at a fair in Vermont many years ago.
Wendy Beth Taylor
Wendy Taylor is a lover of all things fiber related. She is happiest when she can dye, spin, and knit all day while watching Netflix or the BBC. She was raised in Canada, and misses the cooler weather, where knitwear is always the right choice. She started knitting after she ran out of cooking shows to watch while nursing her frequently hungry last child, and quickly fell under the spell of the sheep. As a student of domestic history, she quickly accumulated the necessary objects to explore all origins of the fiber arts, and found she also enjoyed spinning in its various forms. She has accumulated her weight in yarn, and must frequently be untangled from plying gone awry.
Cheryl Stratton
Cheryl has always had a love for crafts and fiber arts. She started with sewing at the age
of twelve with every skill eventually culminating in a Fashion Design Degree. While on a
pioneer trek one summer, she decided to learn to spin on a drop spindle and hasn’t stopped
spinning since. Twelve years later, she spins, knits, and even weaves. “Pioneer skills” are the best!!
