Felted Fingerless Gloves with Jan Bittenbender (Sat PM)
Make a fashion statement with these fingerless gloves!  Using a “resist” and a wide variety of wool and specialty fibers to choose from, students will create a pair of fingerless gloves. They are all sorts of fun to wear, great for  when warmth is needed but fingers need to be free!
 
Level: Beginner
Ages: Suitable for 14+
Materials Fee (included in class cost): $35 for merino wool and specialty fibers, resist, tulle, needles, styrofoam roller
Options: none
Please Bring: small pair of sharp scissors, large bath towel

  • Instructor Bio

    With a deep love of color, texture and nature, my journey into the art world was not to be denied. After a varied career in dietetics, teaching and bartending, my creative energies said “Enough! My turn!”, and I discovered the world of jewelry design. My work was featured throughout the PNW, won Best of Show, and was featured on Project Runway, Fashion Week.  About 6 years ago, felted paintings piqued my interest, so I purchased a library of books and self-taught.  It has been quite the journey!  The beadwork was my comfort zone - precise, exacting, controlled.  The felting? Not so much!  The fibers do their own thing, go on their own journey, which contributes to the beauty and spontaneity of this art form. I have created pictures with many different themes: Native American, portraits, animals, still life, incorporating not just wool, but beads, feathers, “found” items to create truly unique pieces.  It is a great joy to pass this knowledge on.

    Please note: Full refunds are available until February 28, 2026. After February 28th, we will refund 50% of the class fee, and after March 31st, 2026, refunds are no longer available, unless you can find someone to take the class in your place.

    Transfers to other classes will be approved on an individual basis.
