Indigo has been incorporated in textiles dating back to 500 BC and has also been observed on every continent in the world. But what is it and how does it work? Indigo starts as a leaf and the indigo pigment is extracted for our use but it isn't a straightforward process.  But with modern methods we can create our own vat easy as 1, 2, 3.
Each student will learn where indigo comes from, how it is extracted and how to take the extracted pigment and create a vat with the group and get to dye 2 skeins of yarn in this intensive hands on class.
