We’ll delve into the world of Latvian mitten construction, techniques, and design in this workshop. These wonderful mittens use a fingering-weight yarn, double point steel needles, and are worked up at 8-10sts/inch on #1, #0, or #00 needles. They wear like iron and get smoother and better with age! In this workshop we’ll knit a Child’s Mitten where you’ll learn the techniques to make fringe and braid and how to pick up the thumb stitches so they mirror the palm-side of the mitten when turned down toward the cuff.

This is a two session workshop - 6 hours total - 3 hours Friday 9am-noon then 3 hours Sat 2pm-5pm with homework to be done overnight

Level:  Advanced - students should be very comfortable using double point needles, working with a small gauge (9 st/inch) and two-color knitting techniques
